Trauma
Sometimes what you’ve been through doesn’t stay in the past.
It shows up in your body, in your reactions, in the way you scan for safety or pull away from connection. You may feel on edge, shut down, or somewhere in between, wondering why things feel this way even when life seems “fine” on the outside.
Trauma research shows that the nervous system holds onto overwhelming experiences when they have not been fully processed. Approaches like Trauma-Focused CBT, somatic therapy, and polyvagal-informed care help us understand that healing is not just cognitive, it is physiological and relational.
In therapy, we move at your pace to:
Gently process what has happened
Build nervous system regulation and safety
Reconnect you to your sense of control and agency
The goal is not to erase your past, but to help it no longer control your present.
